Notes for class
- An aside to Before the First Byte, which follows one URL through DNS, TCP and TLS.
- The URL in the film is a Demo Company page, www.democompany.com/image.html, with a query and a fragment added to show every part; that page has no caption to scroll to. The fragment is never sent in the request.
- Try any URL in URL Explorer: its parts, who reads them, and its Compare & resolve tab for relative links. The URLs page covers each part in depth.
- The narration is a synthetic voice (ElevenLabs). Timing follows the narration track, so a recorded voice-over can replace it cue for cue using the transcript.
- With Reduce Motion turned on in the operating system, the film keeps its fades and drops the sliding motion.
- Set in Atkinson Hyperlegible Next and Mono, typefaces the Braille Institute designed for readers with low vision.
