Trail Notes

The logo is an SVG in an <img>. Switch your system to dark mode: where the browser supports it, the word "Trail" turns light, because the SVG file carries its own prefers-color-scheme rule. The page's CSS cannot reach inside it.

Hover a link: the text and the icon change color together, because the icon is drawn in currentColor.

Buttons: decorative icon, or labelled icon

The Search button's name is its visible text, so its icon is hidden from assistive technology. The star button has no text, so aria-label names it, and aria-pressed says whether it is on. Press it: only the button's color changes.
